Medicare
Advantage Plans

Man in Cowboy Hat

Medicare Advantage Plans are the alternative to Medigap policies for Part C of coverage.  What is the difference?  Glad you asked.  Below are just some of the differences:

  • Advantage Plans are generally significantly cheaper then Medigap plans.  For instance, a Medigap G plan for a 65 year old will likely cost between $125-150 per month compared to an Advantage Plan that will run as cheap as $0-75 per month depending on the plan and the company you choose.

  • Advantage Plans do have some copays that you have to pay.  For instance, you might pay $40 to see a specialist.

  • Advantage Plans generally (though not always) include drug coverage. Medigap plans DO NOT include any drug coverage.

  • Advantage Plans have benefits that Medigap plans do not cover such as:

    • preventative dental

    • hearing and hearing aids

    • eye glasses/contacts

    • chiropractic care, acupuncture and naturapath.

    • gym membership and others are available through your Medicare Advantage plan (depending on the plan you choose)

  • Please note that while the standard Medigap / Supplement plan is identical (for instance a "G" plan is exactly the same no matter what company you are with), Medicare Advantage plans can vary significantly not only in their coverages but also in their doctor and hospital networks.  This is why it is very important for you allow us to help you choose the best plan in your area as we know all the plans and the networks in your area.
